Endicott Swept by Division II Stonehill on the Road

EASTON, Mass. - In their second match of the fall schedule, the Endicott men's tennis team took on NCAA Division II opponent Stonehill on Saturday and lost 9-0 to the Skyhawks to see their season record fall to an even 1-1. 

The Gulls are off until Tuesday, October 14th when they host Colby-Sawyer for a 3:00 pm match. 

The duo of junior Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) and freshman Christopher Kirkpatrick (Newburyport, Mass.), after battling to an 8-5 loss at the top doubles flight, put up a fight in their respective singles matches with three-set defeats. Dolph, at the #3 singles position, dropped his first set 6-4 but came back to win set two 6-4. In a third set tiebreaker, first to 10, Dolph's Stonehill opponent senior Eric Ringstad (Fairbanks, Alaska) took control to win the point with a 10-3 triumph. 

In the number one singles match, Kirkpatrick fell 6-1 in the first set but grinded out a 7-6 (7-4) second set win to even the match with freshman Thomas Bellio (Saint Joseph, Mich.). Kirkpatrick and Bellio went to a third set tiebreaker with Bellio coming out on top 11-9.
