Men’s Tennis Falls to Roger Williams in CCC Semifinals

RIVERSIDE, R.I. – The Endicott men's tennis team traveled to Roger Williams for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Semifinals. Entering the match, Endicott earned the #3 seed while the Hawks tabbed the #2 seed. Roger Williams took the Gulls in a 5-0 decision to advance to the CCC Championship match. Endicott wraps up their CCC postseason at 9-8 (6-2) while Roger Williams continues at 14-4 (7-1).

In doubles play the Hawks swept the Blue and Green 3-0. #3 partners, juniors Timothy Forance (Natick, Mass.) and Eric Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.) fought a tight match but fell 9-7 as the pair lost just their fourth doubles match on the season and second in the CCC. In the #1 slot senior Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) and partner, junior Michael Dolph (Statford, Conn.) also posted a strong match but fell to an 8-6 decision. In the #2 slot, junior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) and freshman Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) dropped an 8-3 decision to their counterparts.

Needing just two singles victories to clinch the match junior Ryan Swanson (West Newbury, Mass.) defeated Lauretano 6-3, 6-2 in the #4 slot, while junior Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) put up a good fight in the #6 slot before falling 6-3, 7-6 (5-0) to junior Kyle Bull (Pleasantville, N.Y.).

The Gulls finished the season strong having the programs best conference record since 2009 while advancing to the CCC Semifinals for the fourth straight time and seventh in their last eight seasons.
