SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) released their first round of men's tennis player of the week awards. Freshman Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) swept the weekly awards tabbing both Rookie and Player of the Week honors for his efforts in the 9-0 victory over Saint Anselm and a tough 0-9 loss at Southern Maine.
The Rookie played an impressive contest in his spring debut over Saint Anselm only dropping one game in singles play and three in doubles play. In doubles play with partner, junior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) they posted the 8-3 decision in the #2 slot. Playing in the #5 spot for singles play the freshman only dropped one game in the 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Against a tough Southern Maine squad he played the best match of the day forcing the only third set in the #5 position in the tough 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 10-8 loss. In doubles play against the Huskies McAndrews and Lauretano were edged by their opponents 8-4, which marked the closest doubles match of the day.
Endicott will see action next on Wednesday, March 26th at 3:30 p.m. when they host their first game of the season while facing Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Eastern Nazarene to start off conference play.
