Gulls Remain Unbeaten in CCC Play

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team hosted Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent Western New England on Wednesday afternoon. The Gulls went 2-1 in doubles and 4-2 in singles play to secure the 6-3 decision. With victory the Blue and Green improve to 6-5 (4-0 CCC) while the Golden Bears fall to 6-6 (2-2 CCC).

In doubles play, junior Timothy Forance (Natick, Mass.) and partner junior Eric Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.) earned the first victory of the afternoon in the #3 slot as they earned the 8-5 decision. The Golden Bears tied it up in the #2 slot as junior Peter LeFrancois (Marlborough, Mass.) and partner PJ Nassar (Longmeadow, Mass.) defeated junior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) and freshman Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.).

To take the lead back senior Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) and teammate, sophomore Michael Dolph (Stratford, Mass.) came up with the 8-6 decision to enter singles play up 2-1.

(#3) Dolph earned the first victory in singles play for the Blue and Green in his 6-2, 6-1 decision. (#5) McAndrews earned the fourth win on the afternoon in his 6-3, 6-4 victory over sophomore Adam Zimmerman (South Windsor, Conn.).

(#1) Ross sealed the victory with the fifth win of the match with his 6-4, 6-2 decision over sophomore Alexander Sause (Cusago, Italy). Lauretano tallied the final win of the match in his 6-3, 6-3 decision to take the Blue and Green to a 6-3 final.

Endicott will take the court next as they travel to CCC opponent Curry on Tuesday, April 15th for a 3:00 p.m. start. The Golden Bears will also take the court next against a conference opponent as they host Gordon on April 12th at 12:00 p.m.
