SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has announced their weekly awards and two members of the Endicott men's tennis team swept the field as the Gulls improved to 6-5 (4-0 CCC). Senior captain Evan Ross (Worcester, Mass.) earns his first Player of the Week honor for the season while freshman Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) tabbed his second Rookie of the Week nod.
Both members helped lead the Blue and Green to a perfect 2-0 week as they took on two conference opponents to remain undefeated in the CCC.
Ross went a perfect 4 for 4 on the week in doubles and singles play while securing the match win against Western New England. In the battle with Eastern Nazarene the senior, along with partner Michael Dolph (Stratford, Conn.) defeated their opponents in doubles play 8-4 in the #1 slot. In singles play (#1) Ross held his teammate to an impressive 6-1, 6-2 decision. In the second conference matchup of the week Ross and Dolph again defeated their opponents 8-6 in the #1 slot while Ross took his counterpart 6-4, 6-2 in singles play.
(#5) McAndrews posted a perfect week in singles play as he defeated his opponent in the Eastern Nazarene match 6-3, 6-3 while falling in doubles play with partner Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) in a tough 8-3 decision. With the win in singles play he secured the victory with the fifth win of the day for the Gulls. Against the Golden Bears the rookie took his counterpart 6-3, 6-4 in the #5 slot in singles play while falling in doubles with Lauretano in a tough 8-5 match.
Endicott will see action next on Tuesday, April 15th as they travel to CCC opponent Curry for a 3:00 p.m. start time.
