Men’s Tennis Falls to CCC Powerhouse Nichols

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's tennis team hosted Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) opponent, Nichols on Saturday afternoon. Despite strong efforts the reigning CCC Champions got the best of the Gulls as they took the 9-0 victory. Endicott drops to 7-7 (5-2 CCC) while the Bison improve to 17-1 (7-0 CCC).

Even with the loss the Blue and Green remain in good standing in the CCC rankings as they have clinched the #3 spot in the lineup heading into the conference tournament. Endicott will play one more match before the postseason as they travel to Salve Regina on Wednesday, April 23rd for a 3:30 p.m. start.

In doubles play making their debut in the #1 slot, partners Sean McAndrews (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) and junior Michael Lauretano (Winchester, Mass.) lost to their opponent 8-2. Juniors Timothy Forance (Natick, Mass.) and Eric Gandrup (Sudbury, Mass.) dropped an 8-1 decision. Posing a strong match in the #3 slot, junior Justin Warshavsky (East Hartford, Conn.) and sophomore Clay Arnold (Ivoryton, Conn.) forced a tiebreaker set before falling 9-8 (7-5).

In singles play the Bison worked the Gulls, holding them to just 11 games in the match. (#3) Lauretano tabbed the best effort in a 6-2, 6-2 decision while McAndrews, Arnold, Warshavky, and sophomore Tyler Lemieux (New Hartford, Conn.) all tallied at least one game in their sets. However their efforts were not enough as the Blue and Green fell 9-0.
