Colby-Sawyer stuns Gulls with 1-0 win
Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass. – Colby-Sawyer College’s Jesse Phillips (Arlington, Va.) scored in the 66th minute to give the visiting Chargers a 1-0 victory over Endicott College on a rain-soaked Saturday afternoon in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls fall to 7-9 overall and 6-6 in the TCCC while Colby-Sawyer picks up its third win of the season to improve to 3-14 overall and 2-10 in conference play.

Before the game, Endicott honored \#TJ Sapienza\# (Milford, N.H.), \#Shaun Martin\# (Salisbury, Mass.), \#Danny Vagnini\# (Farmington, Conn.) and \#Jeff Nowicki\# (Charlton, Mass.) as a part of the annual Senior Day for these four seniors’ contributions to Endicott College and its athletics program.

Both teams played to a draw in the first frame as neither team could get on the board. The Chargers outshot the Gulls 5-3 in the half despite Endicott holding the edge in corners, 3-1. Endicott’s \#Daniel Higgins\# (Kingstown, R.I.) recorded one save in the period while his counterpart, Chris Feltes (Manchester, N.H.) turned away two Endicott attempts.

The second half began in the same fashion as the teams combined to put up eight shots in the first 20 minutes, with no scores. That all changed in the 66th minute as the Chargers were awarded a free kick near midfield following an Endicott foul. Colby-Sawyer played the ball into the box as \#Daniel Higgins\# made a leaping attempt at the ball; however it trickled through his hands, landing at the feet of Phillips. The freshman quickly squeezed a shot between Higgins and the left post to give the Chargers the 1-0 lead.

Endicott had its chances in the final seconds as \#TJ Sapienza\# had a throw-in with less than :20 seconds to play. Sapienza tossed the ball into the circle and found an open \#Colin Doody\# (Wethersfield, Conn.) but the freshman’s aerial shot missed its mark wide-left, allowing the Chargers a goal kick and draining the clock of its remaining time.

Chris Feltes picked up the win in goal for the Chargers by making five saves in his second shutout of the season. Higgins drops to 7-9 this season despite making three saves for the Gulls.

The Blue and Green return to action on Tuesday as the Gulls travel to Paxton, Mass. for their regular season finale against Anna Maria College scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Colby-Sawyer returns home to host Nichols College for their Senior Day in a TCCC matchup scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
