Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College men’s soccer forward \#Colin Doody\# (Wethersfield, Conn.) scored a pair of second half goals to lead the Gulls past the Wentworth Institute of Technology, 3-1, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Wednesday night in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls improve to 4-5 (3-2 TCCC) while Wentworth falls back to .500 at 4-4 (3-2 TCCC).

Both teams capitalized off turnovers in the first half that lead to the 1-1 tie going into the break. Endicott got on the board in the first three minutes of play as \#Kevin Ivester\# (Topsfield, Mass.) gained control of a Leopard turnover inside the box and blasted the ball past the goalie for a 1-0 lead. The Gulls held their lead for most of the half until Wentworth’s Bahadir Aytug (Istanbul, Turkey) stole the ball from 30-yards out and dribbled into the box with his shot flying past the outstretched arms of \#Daniel Higgins\# (Kingstown, R.I.) to knot the game at 1-1.

Early into the second half, Endicott’s \#Craig Jameson\# (Bedford, N.H.) had a scoring chance on a corner kick that hit off the crossbar and landed right at the feet of \#Colin Doody\#. The freshman promptly placed the go-ahead goal into the back of the net to help the Gulls retake the lead at 2-1. Doody later added an insurance goal as \#Bryan Lee\# (Rockport, Mass.) crossed the ball into the box and found an open Doody who flipped the ball over the goalie’s hands for a 3-1 Endicott victory.

Endicott’s \#Daniel Higgins\# picked up his fourth win of the season by making one save while Wentworth’s Brian Pearsall (Sanford, Maine) made a pair of stops while facing 14 Endicott shots. The Gulls dominated in the shots category, 14-5, while also holding a major edge in corner kicks, 12-3.

The Blue and Green return to action on Saturday as the Gulls host TCCC foe Nichols College at 7:00 p.m. as a part of Endicott’s Homecoming Weekend. Wentworth continues its four-game road trip as it travels to Henniker, N.H. for a conference matchup with New England College.
