BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott College men’s soccer team picked up its first win of 2009 as the Gulls (1-3, 1-0 TCCC) defeated the Regis College Pride (2-3, 0-1 TCCC), 3-0, on a misty Saturday afternoon in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls were led by a pair of goals from freshman \#Colin Doody\# (Wethersfield, Conn.), the first two tallies of his collegiate career.

The first half was a quiet one as neither team could get on the board. The Gulls mustered 13 shots and five corner kicks but came away empty-handed every time. Regis’ Andrew LaMacchia (Lynn, Mass.) made a pair of saves in the period while \#Daniel Higgins\# (Kingstown, R.I.) saw the lone shot of the contest for Regis sail above the net and out of play.

Coming out of halftime, the game seemed destined for overtime as the Gulls offense struggled to get the ball close. Doody finally broke through in the 70th minute as the freshman took a corner kick from classmate \#Brian Connery\# (Boxford, Mass.) and headed it past the Regis keeper to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead. \#Robbie DiTommaso\# (Farmington, Conn.) added his second goal of the season three minutes later on a loose ball before Doody put the game away for good with his strike from the top of the box that gave Endicott the 3-0 victory.

Higgins picked up his first career victory between the pipes despite seeing only one shot from the Pride. Regis’ LaMacchia suffered his third setback of the season while making six saves and allowing three goals on 32 shots faced.

The Blue and Green return to action on Tuesday when they host UMaine-Farmington in a non-conference matchup at 7:00 p.m. Regis also dips into non-conference action in its next game with a matchup against Lesley University on Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m.
