Pilgrims edge Gulls in crucial TCCC game

Henniker, N.H. – New England College midfielder Peter Koskores (North Andover, Mass.) netted a goal in the 50th minute to lead the Pilgrims past visiting Endicott, 1-0, on Tuesday afternoon in Henniker, N.H.. With the win, the Pilgrims improve to 8-7-1 on the season and even their TCCC record at 5-5-1. The loss drops the Gulls to 7-8-0 overall and 6-5-0 in conference play.

The two teams battled through a scoreless opening half of play as the Gulls held a slight 3-2 advantage in shots on net.

NEC broke the scoring drought just 5:49 into the second half as Mark Mangini (Derry, N.H.) bounced a pass through the center, finding the foot of Koskores. Koskores fired a shot past the Gull defense recording his fifth goal of the season.

Endicott would have several scoring opportunities late including a shot from \#Brian Connery\# (Boxford, Mass.) in the 80th minute that ricocheted off the crossbar.

The Gulls finished the game outshooting the Pilgrims 9-5 and held a 4-1 advantage in corner opportunities.

Picking up the win in net for NEC was Pat Harkin (Scituate, R.I.), who finished with six saves. Endicott’s \#Daniel Higgins\# (Kingstown, R.I.) recorded two saves in the losing effort.

The Pilgrims return to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 when they travel to take on conference opponent Gordon College at 2:30 p.m. The Gulls host conference opponent Colby-Sawyer at 4:00 p.m. on the same day.
