BIDDEFORD, Maine - Sophomore midfielder Owen Evans (West Stockbridge, Mass.) notched the lone goal of the match in the 53rd minute to provide the University of New England with a 1-0 victory over Endicott College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's soccer action Saturday afternoon.

By winning its fifth straight contest, UNE improves to 6-1 overall and maintains an unblemished TCCC ledger at 4-0. The triumph was also the Nor'easters' first-ever over Endicott. The Gulls were 9-0-1 versus UNE in the 10 previous meetings.

Senior back John-Michael Cascio (Topsfield, Mass.) set-up the winning goal, laying off a ball to Evans, who took several touches before depositing a low shot just inside the right goal post. The game-winner was Evans' second of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Jon Planer (Yarmouth, Maine) had three saves to register his second shutout in the last three matches while freshman \#Daniel Higgins\# (Kingstown, R.I.) turned aside three shots for the Gulls (3-5, 2-2 TCCC).

The Nor'easters held a small advantage in shots (12-9) and corner kicks (4-3).

Next up for Endicott is a 7:00 p.m. home tilt versus Wentworth on Wednesday. UNE will look to extend its winning streak to six Monday with a non-conference road game versus Newbury College. The game will be played at Pine Manor College beginning at 3:30 p.m.
