BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott College men's soccer team lost a hard fought battle against New England College by a score of 1-0 on Saturday night in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Endicott Stadium. The win moves the Pilgrims to 9-3-3 (7-1-2 TCCC) on the season while the setback drops the Gulls to 3-11-1 (3-7-1 TCCC). New England College's Scott Ryan (Pelham, N.H.) scored the lone goal in the contest for the Pilgrims.

The first half was a battle for possession as each team traded shots on goal. New England College's Jon Mayo (Merrimack, N.H.) made five saves in the period while Endicott's Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, Mass.) countered with six saves. The Pilgrims would finally break through however as Ryan came off the bench and put NEC on the board with their first goal. The junior was able to take a cross off the foot of Dean Smith (Schwenksville, Pa.) from the right side of the box and blast it past DeJesus for the 1-0 lead with about nine minutes to go in the frame.

Endicott would attempt to find the equalizer as they were able to take eight shots in the second frame. However, Ryan's goal would be all that the Pilgrims needed for victory as Jon Mayo was able to hold the Gulls at bay in a penalty filled second half. There would be a total of 34 fouls called in the game on the two teams including 18 in the second period alone. Three cards were also distributed including a yellow on each squad and one red against the Pilgrims.

Endicott's Jack DeJesus was able to make eight saves in the contest while giving up the only goal. Mayo would do him one better as he made nine saves in earning his fifth shutout of the season.

The Blue and Green return to action on Tuesday as they play host to the University of New England in another TCCC matchup scheduled for 6:30 p.m. New England College will travel to Springfield, Mass. on Wednesday to take on Western New England in TCCC action at 4:00 p.m.
