BEVERLY, Mass. - Salem State College got goals from Willer Nogueira (Everett, Mass.) and Yuta Kizaki (Karatsu-shi, Japan) as the Vikings upended Endicott College, 2-0, in men's soccer action on Saturday morning in Beverly, Mass. The win marks the second in as many tries for Salem State, while Endicott slips to 0-3.

The first half opened with the balance of play shifting in the visitor's favor. Nogueira had a stellar scoring opportunity midway through the opening period as he dribbled down the left side of the field, flicking a shot just wide of the right post to keep the game knotted a 0-0. The senior forward finally broke through in the 42nd minute as he let a 20-yard bid fly from just outside the box, glancing the shot off an Endicott defender and into the back of the net. The Vikings would enter the intermission with a 1-0 lead.

In the second, Salem State pressed Endicott back onto its heels by outshooting the Gulls, 11-3, in the stanza. The visitors buried an insurance goal at 79:25 as Juan Panameno (Revere, Mass.) sprung loose Yuta Kizaki with a nifty through ball, allowing the senior to loft a shot past Gulls' netminder Nicholas Allman (Newburyport, Mass.) to seal the win.

Salem State outshot Endicott, 20-7, as the Gulls only forced Pawel Brzykcy (Karkow, Poland) to make three saves in the victory. Allman was strong in his third-collegiate start, making seven saves including a point-blank sprawling stop on a tough shot by Andrew Angus (Boston, Mass.) just inside the box. Salem State was assessed three yellow cards in a chippey win for the Vikings.

The Gulls will have a long week of preparation as they don't take the field again until September 13th as they open conference play with Regis College. Salem State returns to action against Plymouth State University Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
