Echevarria, Kinney Secure CCC Weekly Honors

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Following a 2-0 week in contests against rivals Roger Williams and Western New England, senior guard Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) and freshman forward Elijah Kinney (Nashville, Tenn.) have been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Co-Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Echevarria averaged 25 points per game and shot 51.3% from the field (20-39) over the two-game stretch, while Kinney averaged 13 points per game (52.2 FG%) and 10 rebounds per game in the crucial 2-0 conference slate.

In Tuesday's 86-75 road victory at Roger Williams, Kinney returned to action after missing the previous two games with an ankle injury. He led all Gulls with a team-high 17 points (8-15 FG, 1-3 3PT) and 16 rebounds in the contest.

Echevarria scored 15 points and swiped a steal for the Blue and Green, guiding them to the vital conference road win.

On Saturday, the duo once again paved the way for a thrilling 85-78 overtime home win against second-seeded Western New England. Echevarria posted a career-high-tying 35 points (14-22 FG, 3-8 3PT, 4-4 FT) to pair with his four dimes and two thefts. His 35 points is the largest Gulls scoring output since he last recorded that same total on January 21, 2023.

Kinney contributed nine points and four rebounds in the electric comeback win. Within those nine were a clutch game-tying layup to send the contest to overtime, and a rim-rocking dunk to seal the win in the bonus period.

This marks Echevarria's third career CCC Player of the Week award (1/27/20, 12/5/22) and Kinney's fourth career CCC Rookie of the Week honors (11/13/23, 12/4/23, 1/2/24).
