Men’s Basketball Breezes Past Gordon, 95-66

WENHAM, Mass. — The Endicott men's basketball team defeated crosstown rival Gordon, 95-66, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Tuesday night at the Bennett Center. 

Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.) led the Gulls with 22 points behind a career-high six three-pointers, while also ripping down five boards and adding three dimes. 

Endicott saw six other student-athletes score six or more points including Liam Dunfee (Nahant, Mass.) (9), Joey DaSilva (Windham, N.H.) (9), Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) (8), Jeff Hill (Lynn, Mass.) (8), Elijah Kinney (Nashville, Tenn.) (7), Cam Homsey (Windham, N.H.) (6). 

In the opening stanza, the Gulls produced a 13-2 scoring run that manufactured a 34-18 lead with 11:31 to play. 

The spurt was paced by a three-pointer from Homsey, a Drew Brown (Pelham, N.H.) three-ball, a Dunfee converted lay-in, a Hill left-wing three-pointer, and capped off by a Kinney transition layup.

The Blue and Green closed out the first half with a 7-2 stretch, heading into the locker room with a 43-26 lead.

From there, the visitors came out of the break with an 11-2 burst to extend their lead to 54-32 with 17:15 remaining. Barrett spearheaded the run with three trifectas. 

Meanwhile, the Gulls would not let up with a 16-4 scoring run to give the Blue and Green their largest lead of the game up to that point, 72-38 with 11:22 left.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls lead the all-time series, 31-23.
  • The Blue and Green have started conference play 4-0 in back-to-back seasons.
  • DaSilva netted a career-high nine points.
  • Endicott made 33 field goals on 24 assists.
  • Taylor Yates (Saint Albans, Vt.) recorded his first career collegiate point at the free throw line.
  • The Endicott reserves outscored the Gordon substitutes, 45-18.
  • The visitors caused 13 Gordon turnovers, which resulted in 24 points on the other end.

Endicott (8-3, 4-0 CCC) hosts Curry on Thursday at 7:30 PM. Gordon (3-8, 1-2 CCC) visits Nichols on Thursday at 7:30 PM.
