Men’s Basketball Breezes Past Saint Joseph’s (Me.), 105-85

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's basketball team defeated Saint Joseph's (Me.), 105-85, in non-conference action on Wednesday night at MacDonald Gymnasium. 

Elijah Kinney (Nashville, Tenn.) led the quintet of Gulls in double figures with his 20 points (9-15 FG), 16 rebounds, and three rejections. 

Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) added 19 points (8-15 FG, 3-6 3PT) in 24 minutes of action. 

The duo of Ty Vitko (Dover, N.H.) and Matt Boen (Mansfield, Mass.) notched 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Mark Barrett (Brookline, Mass.) rounded out the individual highlights for the Blue and Green with 14 points, six boards, and five dimes. 

The Gulls seized early momentum and never looked back. The Blue & Green opened the contest on a 17-2 scoring run and rode that hot start throughout the rest of the matchup.

The spurt was ignited by Vitko (6), Boen (5), Kinney (4) and Barrett (2). 

From there, the hosts generated a 13-4 burst to fuel a 72-49 lead with 12:08 in the matchup. Echevarria spearheaded the stretch with seven points. 

The Gulls would not relinquish the double-digit lead and picked up their fifth straight victory in the first wire-to-wire win of the season.  

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • This is the first all-time matchup between the two squads.
  • Ryan Webster (Gainesville, Fla.) netted his first collegiate bucket. 
  • The Gulls have scored 90-plus points in four of their last five games.
  • The hosts edged the visitors in the lane, 48-42. 
  • The Blue and Green created 13 Monks turnovers, which resulted in 16 points.

Endicott (7-3, 3-0 CCC) visits crosstown rival Gordon on Tuesday, January 2 at 7:30 PM. Saint Joesph's (Me.) (3-7, 1-1 GNAC) takes on Wesleyan (Conn.) on Friday, December 29 at 5:00 PM.
