O’Halloran Nabs First CCC Honor Of The Season

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior co-captain Emily O'Halloran (Cheshire, Conn.) has been recognized by the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) for her efforts in the field hockey teams 1-1 week. The senior has been awarded this week's Defensive Player of the Week honor, and marks her first for the 2013 season.

O'Halloran played in every minute of both contests for the Blue and Green this past week. In the match against the University of New England she notched her ninth career defensive save, which bumps her up to #2 All-Time in program history. The defender led a strong Gulls defensive unit that earned them a spot in the CCC Tournament after a 7-1 victory over Western New England on Saturday. She was a vital part of keeping the Golden Bears out of the defensive circle for most of the game as Endicott only allowed 11 shots.

Prior to the contest O'Halloran knew that her defense could allow very few goals in order to move on to the conference tournament and with her strong efforts along with her teammates the Gulls were able to nab the #3 seed.

Endicott will travel to #2 Gordon on Wednesday, November 6th for a 4:00 p.m. semifinal matchup. The Gulls have lost to the Fighting Scots twice this year and will look to avenge those losses in a rematch of last year's semifinal.
