Trio Of Gulls Receive Weekly Honors From CCC & D3football.com

CCC RELEASE | D3FOOTBALL.COM RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Following a dominant 37-10 win over No. 5/5 nationally ranked Hardin-Simmons last Friday night, three Endicott football student-athletes have earned weekly awards for their performances against the Cowboys.

D3FOOTBALL.COM TEAM OF THE WEEK

Michael LeFebre (Methuen, Mass.) headlined the trio with his selection to the D3football.com Team of the Week.

LeFebre filled the stat sheet against No. 5/5 Hardin-Simmons with five tackles, including his first career sack, and his eighth career interception, which set up a field goal for the game's opening score.

This is LeFebre's first career D3football.com Team of the Week award. He also is the first cornerback/defensive back in program history to receive the award.

Overall, LeFebre is the 11th student-athlete to be selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week and 13th overall selection in program history (two student-athletes with two honors each).

The D3football.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, is D3football.com's weekly honor roll, which is currently in its 25th season of recognizing the top performance at each position from the previous week.

LeFebre was one of 26 student-athletes chosen to the D3football.com's weekly honor roll among all 240 NCAA Division III programs across the country.

Student-athletes are nominated by their school's sports information directors and chosen by members of the D3football.com staff.

CCC WEEKLY HONORS

Meanwhile, Shane Aylward (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Zachariah Twardosky (Merrimack, N.H.) garnered Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Offensive Player and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively.

Aylward, now a two-time CCC Offensive Player of the Week honoree, sparked Endicott's offense in last weekend's win with four catches for 111 yards (27.8 yards per catch) and two scores (tied career-high)

Both touchdowns (12 yards, 51 yards) came in the second quarter to give the Gulls an eventual 17-3 advantage at the break.

As for Twardosky, the senior corner paced a stellar defensive effort for the Gulls with 10 total tackles (eight solo and one for a loss), a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Twardosky's fumble recovery was one of four turnovers the hosts amassed against the visiting Cowboys, who were held to season lows in nearly every offensive category in the matchup.

The win also marked Endicott's first over a nationally ranked team in program history.

Additionally, this is Twardosky's first career CCC Defensive Player of the Week award and second honor in as many days.

On Monday, Twardosky was chosen as the New England Football Writers Association (NEFW)/Grinold Chapter Gold Helmet Award winner for NCAA Division II/III.
