Football Breaks Into 2023 National Polls With Highest Ranking In Program History

AFCA POLL | D3FOOTBALL.COM POLL

BEVERLY, Mass. – Following a dominant 37-10 win over No. 5/5 Hardin-Simmons last Friday night, the Endicott football program has broken into both the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and D3football.com Top-25 polls this week.

The Gulls were chosen a program-best No. 21 overall in the D3football.com poll on Sunday afternoon, and No. 22 overall in the AFCA poll on Monday evening. Last season, Endicott reached the No. 22 spot for the first time in program history when D3football.com released its Week 11 poll on November 14.

Meanwhile, Friday night's win over No. 5/5 Hardin-Simmons marked its first-ever victory over a nationally ranked opponent.

The Gulls accomplished the feat behind a season-high 37 points, three interceptions, two forced fumbles (one recovery), four tackles for a loss (one sack), two pass breakups, and six quarterback hurries.

Hardin-Simmons was also held to season-lows for points (10), rushing yards (178), passing yards (91), and total offense (269).

Endicott's current top-25 NCAA Division III defensive rankings include: passing yards allowed (5th, 94.8), team passing efficiency defense (8th, 78.63), scoring defense (12th, 7.5), and team defense (14th, 214.5).

All four of those defensive rankings also lead the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).
