Women’s Cross Country Wins “Battle Of The North Shore”

WENHAM, Mass. — The Endicott women's cross country team defeated host Gordon College in the "Battle of the North Shore" on Friday evening.

Roger Williams won the overall meet with a score of 38 points, followed by Endicott (40) and Gordon (47).

Meanwhile, the Gulls bested the Fighting Scots, 27-30, in the "Battle of the North Shore" dual meet pushing their record in the all-time series to 5-1 overall (started in 2017).

Individually, Gwen Catalano (Buxton, Maine) paced the Gulls with a third place finish on the 5-kilometer course (19:15.1, fastest women's XC 5k time in school history, based upon available data).

The Gulls also saw Alexa Suchy (Guilford, Conn.), Hannah Shepard (Keene, N.H.), and Brianna am Ende (East Lyme, Conn.) rank inside the top-10 (5th - 19:53.6 | 8th - 20:22.4 | 9th, 20:22.8). 

Cassandra Cosma (Center Moriches, N.Y.) rounded out Endicott's top-5 in 15th place overall (21:01.0).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Catalano, Suchy, Makenna Hubert (Rutland, Vt.), Teagan Shaughnessy (Watertown, Mass.), and Sophia Dill (Uxbridge, Mass.) all produced personal bests.
  • Hubert notched a time of 23:02, while Shaughnessy came in at 21:54.7, and Dill crossed the finish Lin in 22:40.3.

Endicott competes in the Pop Crowell Invitational, hosted by Gordon, on Saturday, September 16 at 11:30 AM.
