Springfield, Mass. – Following a pair of standout individual performances at the WNEC Invitational, two Endicott cross country runners have been named Runner of the Week by The Commonwealth Coast Conference for the week ending October 18. \#Holly Davis\# (Guilford, Conn.) was named female runner of the week while \#Greg Payne\# (North Attleboro, Mass.) reaped male runner of the week accolades.
Davis clocked a 5k time of 20:39 and earned a second place finish among 100 runners at the Western New England Invitational. Her strong showing helped the Gulls take the team crown out of 10 teams.
The sophomore has recorded three of top-25 finishes this year. Her time of 20:39 on Saturday was the second-best of the season and helped the women's team picked up its first win.
Payne continued a strong season with his second top-two showing of the year. The junior set the pace for all runners and finished first out of 70 runners on Saturday, crossing the line with a time of 27:18. The team’s top finisher all season long, Payne has accumulated four top-15 finishes in six races.
The Gulls take this weekend off in preparation for the upcoming TCCC Championship. Both teams will look to improve on last year’s fifth-place showing.
