Women's rugby scrums.

NORTON, Mass. - The Endicott women's rugby program got off to a great start last Saturday with a 68-13 win over Wheaton (Mass.) in their first matchup of the season.

The Gulls took flight early on and never let up, as Endicott maintained a comfortable lead throughout the entire game. In addition to its strong and effective defensive presence, several Endicott student-athletes registered outstanding offensive game performances throughout the afternoon.

Sophomore Amanda Poulin (Turner, Maine) stood out among the bunch as she racked up a total of five tries. Meanwhile, freshman Kelsey Joyce (Wharton, N.J.) added another three tries and one conversion. Scoring contributions also came from a variety of different Gulls, including tries scored by seniors Sophia Hatzis (West Roxbury, Mass.) and Lauren Hervieux (Lincoln, R.I.), and sophomores Allie Zunick (Danvers, Mass.) and Nicole McCardle (Castleton, Vt.)

"I am really proud of all our rookies and the work they put in today," said McCardle. "Also, our vets were super helpful with all the support on the field. Overall it was a great win!"

In their next matchup, the Gulls will host the Camels of Connecticut College at Hempstead Stadium on Sunday, September 24th at 12 PM.
