Professional Aspirations

Completed her semester-long internship at the Discover Program at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Fall 2015 where she served as a mental health counselor... Ran group sessions about coping skills, relapse prevention, relationship issues and medical aspects of addiction and met with patients one-on-one to discuss goals and individual progress... Also completed an internship with in November 2015 at Newington High School in the School Psychology and Special Education Department where she attended team meetings, PPT's, 504 meetings and special education classes, tutored special education students, provided assistance to faculty when monitoring students.... Also interned with the Solnit Psychiatric Center for Children in January 2014 where she shadowed clinicians, social workers and doctors; attended intake meetings, psych evaluations and team meetings... Aspires to have her Ph.D in clinical psychology and work in a hospital setting in a psychiatric and addiction unit

"All of my internships have played a critical piece in helping me form career and professional aspirations. My Fall semester internship was recently the most helpful in helping me decide the population I want to work with. I am now looking to work with addicted adults, instead of dual diagnosis children as I originally wanted."
