Gulls Race at Pop Crowell Invitational

WENHAM, MA - Kelsey Conn (Batavia, NY/Elba) and Ryan Darmody (Portsmouth, RI/Portsmouth) once again led the Endicott College cross country teams to strong finishes on Saturday with both the men and women racing at Gordon's Pop Crowell Invitational.

Conn, a freshman, paced the women's team with her seventh place finish as she covered the 5,000 meter course in 19:14, just 20-seconds behind individual winner Hannah Matthews of Gordon. Nicole Prokop (Montgomery, MA/Gateway) crossed the line second for the Gulls, finishing in 24th place and covered the 3.1 miles in 20:24.

Megan McGraw (Georgia, VT/Essex) finished in 21:29 good for 54th while Jackie Collier (Swampscott, MA/Bishop Fenwick) was 69th in 21:29 and Beth Carlson (Franklin, MA/Whitinsville) rounded out the scoring for the Blue and Green crossing the line in 78th with a time of 21:58.

Led by Conn and Prokop's top 25 finishes the Gulls scored a total of 202 points to take sixth place overall as a team. Wellesley College won the team title with 35 points.

On the men's side Darmody led the Blue and Green to the finish for the third straight race with his 90th place finish. The senior captain covered the five mile course in 30:52, one of his best times this year.

Brendan Mitchell (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) stepped up in a big way for the Gulls as he was the second EC finisher. The freshman finished in 31:50 good for 111th place overall. Steve Bouchard (Saratoga, NY/Saratoga) followed closely behind as he crossed the line in just six seconds later in 31:56 and 113th place.

Mike Macisso (Portland, ME/Portland) was the Gulls fourth man finishing in 32:38 (129th place) while Ryan Slobin (Old Saybrook, CT/Old Saybrook) rounded out the scoring for EC covering the Gordon course in 34:21 and 160th place.

The Gulls tallied a total of 442 points and in finished 17th place as a team. The University of Southern Maine claimed the team title with 29 points.

Endicott will return to the trails next Saturday when they head to Colt State Park in Bristol, RI for a meet hosted by TCCC rival Roger Williams University. The men's race is set to begin at 11 while the women will follow with a starting gun of noon.
