All-TCCC Men's Tennis Selections
Springfield, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast
Conference (TCCC) announced their All-TCCC selections for the 2011
men’s tennis season and three Gulls have been recognized,
including freshman Zach Arpey (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) who was
named this year’s Rookie of the Year.
The awards were announced by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye and
voted upon by the head coaches of each team in the conference.
Arpey went undefeated in singles play in his rookie campaign,
going 14-0 overall with a 11-0 mark in TCCC matches. Mainly a \#4
singles player, Arpey went 9-0 at that position as well as 1-0 at
both \#2 and \#3 singles in 2011. He was named an All-TCCC
Second Team Singles player.
When teamed up with partner Devon Locke (St. Croix, Virgin
Islands) at the \#1 doubles position, the duo compiled an 8-3
conference record. Locke and Arpey, for their efforts at \#1
doubles were named to the All-TCCC First Team
Doubles Team.
Locke also garnered recognition as a singles player, being named
an All-TCCC Singles Honorable Mention after going
6-4 in TCCC action. He split time between the \#1 and \#2 singles
spots. At \#1 singles, Locke went 2-2 over the past couple of weeks
and had a 4-2 mark at the \#2 singles position at the start of the
season.
Also receiving conference accolades was sophomore Olivier Joggi
(Stoneham, Mass.) who, primarily at the \#3 singles went 8-1
against TCCC foes. Joggi was named an All-TCCC Singles
Honorable Mention. He went 11-4 overall during the season
in singles play.
Arpey, Locke, Joggi and the rest of the Gulls men’s tennis
team won their TCCC Quarterfinal match as the \#4 seed over the \#5
seed Gordon 5-4 to advance into the semifinals. Endicott will now
face off against the top-seeded Nichols Bison on Wednesday, April
27th at 3:00 pm in Dudley, Massachusetts.
