Final Stats

Wenham, MA - Endicott fell to rivals Gordon College 5-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Wednesday afternoon.

The Gulls struck early as Joe Scarbo (Milton, MA/Milton) fired a shot over the head of GC junior keeper Christopher Tanga (Byram, N.J.) just 2:26 in the opening period. Scarbo scored from nearly 20 yards out and was assisted on the goal by Chris Croteau (Groveland, MA/Pentucket). The game continued back and forth with both teams managing a number of scoring attempts. Keith Lumpp (Silver Lake, OH) scored with 13 minutes remaining in the first half to tie the game at 1-1.

Less than four minutes later, the Scots took the lead, 2-1, as junior midfielder David McMullen (Silver Lake, Ohio) found the back of the net. Just over ten minutes into the second half, the Fighting Scots were fouled inside the box and Lumpp gave GC a 3-1 lead as he successfully converted on the penalty kick.

The Gulls would not go down without a fight, however, as Eric Booth (Belchertown, MA/Belchertown) hit the post with a shot, the rebound found Gabriel Morga who was there to cut the Scots lead to 3-2. Gordon regained a two goal lead as junior midfielder Matt Schneider (Allentown, Pa.) scored. The Scots added one more goal with 11:46 to as Dave Smith (Salem, N.H.) scored to put the game out of reach at 5-2.

The back and forth pace continued but neither team would score again as the Scots took the 5-2 win. Each team was persistent towards the goal as 54 total shots were taken in the game with 26 on goal. Tanga recorded nine saves in the win while Cameron Twiss (Reading, MA/Biship Fenwick) was credited with ten saves in defeat.

The Gulls fall to 2-9 overall and 2-5 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference, while the Fighting Scots improve to 4-2-3 overall and 3-2-1 in the CCC. Endicott will next play Salve Regina at home on Saturday afternoon.
