Men's Rugby Upends Western New England, 39-5

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's rugby team played its second dominant match of the 2015 season hosting and defeating Colonial Coast Rugby Conference (CCRC) rival Western New England University, 39-5, on Saturday.

"Western New England is always a big, physical and dominant team," said coach Bob Ryman. "Our plan was to run with the backs and make their make forwards run across the pitch so that we could force turnovers and use our athleticism to turn defense into offense."

The Gulls were dominant this week by using a disciplined team performance, holding the Golden Bears scoreless until the last two minutes of the match.

Matt Doyle (Hingham, Mass.), Brian Sussingham (Yonkers, N.Y.), Justin Klanica (Cheshire, Conn.), Kidder Spillane (Shelbourne, Vt.), Matt Camilleri (Chester, Conn.), Ryan Stanek (Cheshire, Conn.), and Caleb McMullin (North Granby, Conn.) all scored one try each in the contest. Rob Wimpory (Groveland, Mass.) also added four conversion kicks in the win.

Endicott, winners of back-to-back conference matches, will enter its bye week 2-0 before returning to action on October 4th when the gulls host Wheaton (Mass.) for a 12:00pm start.
