Title: Volunteer Assistant Coach

Tommy Besinger '19 enters his second year as an assistant coach with the men's ice hockey program in 2023-24.

Besinger returns to the program after concluding his multi-year pro career which included playing for the Evansville Thunderbolts (2018-19, SPHL), Mulhouse Scorpions (2019-20, French Synerglace Ligue Magnus), Atlanta Gladiators (2020-22, ECHL) and Huntsville Havoc (2020-21, ECHL).

As a student-athlete at Endicott, Besinger played in 71 career games for the Gulls (2015-19). He scored 33 goals and dished out 71 assists for 104 points. He also registered 14 power play goals and six game-winning goals in his career. 

Additionally, at the time of signing his first professional contract, Besinger was only the third student-athlete in program history to reach the 100 career point plateau.

Besinger also ranked third all-time in points, first in points per game (1.46), fifth in goals, sixth in goals per game (0.46), tied for second in game-winning goals, tied for third in power play goals, second in assists, and first in assists per game (1.00) upon graduation.

His individual awards included: 2018-19 CCC All-Conference Second Team, 2018-19 Joe Concannon Award Semifinalist, 2019 Northfield Savings Bank Holiday Tournament MVP, 2018-19 CCC Player of the Week (1/7/19), 2016-17 CCM All-America East Third Team (3/23/17), 2016-17 All-USCHO Third Team (3/31/17), 2016-17 New England Hockey Writers' Association All-Region selection (3/31/17), 2016-17 All-CCC First Team, 2016-17 Joe Concannon Award Semifinalist, D3hockey.com Team of the Week (11/8/18), and ECAC Northeast All-Tournament Team (3/5/16) honors.

As a team, Endicott posted a 74-28-9 overall record (.707) and a 47-19-3 (.703) conference mark. The Gulls captured the first-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship in 2016-17, made one NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals appearance (best in program history, 2016-17), qualified for the playoffs in all four seasons, and won two regular season championships.

Endicott never lost more than nine regular season games during that four-year stretch and won 15 or more games in all four seasons (program record 24-4-2 in 2016-17).
