BREWSTER, Mass. – Endicott closed out their fall campaign
this week by placing eleventh at the 77th annual New
England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship. The
event featured 168 golfers from 35 colleges and universities and
was held on the 36-hole Captains Course on Cape Cod.
Endicott golfers over two days shot a 628, 52 strokes over par,
and tied for eleventh place with Western New England and Franklin
Pierce University.
Endicott co-captain Jackson Wyman (Falmouth, Maine) was the
Gulls’ top scorer, tying for 3rd overall with a
four-over-par 148 across two days. Wyman shot a 73 on day one and
was tied for fourth and then followed it with a 75 on the second
day of competition.
Brett Malboeuf (Shrewsbury, Mass.) improved on a first day 81 with
a 76 to finish +13, in a large tie for 48th place, while
Jack Carroll (West Hartford, Conn.) shot a 161 to tie for
92nd place. Carroll also had a better second, following
an 82 with a 79. Sophomore Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was
the final scorer for Endicott, shooting a 163 to tie for
104th place.
The New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) has been
in existence since 1934, includes 44 member colleges and
universities in New England and is considered to be the oldest and
largest college golf tournament. It is unique in that Divisions I,
II and III compete together.
Division 2 school Bentley won the event with a 606, 30 over par on
the weekend. Bryant University was a stroke behind while UMass
Lowell was three strokes back in third place.
The NEIGA Invitational was the final event on the men’s golf
team fall season. The Gulls will get ready for the ECAC Division
III Championship, which they have qualified to compete in next
spring.
