EC Defends Ambassador Cup

EC Defends Ambassador Cup

In the third annual golf match-up for the Ambassador Cup, Endicott defended the title with a 10-2 victory over rival, Gordon College. The event took place on Saturday October 18th, with Gordon as the championship host.

Winning ten of twelve points, EC fought hard to defend last years win. Both the singles match scores and the four-ball scores were close, but the Gulls were able to close out all of their matches.

Endicott was led by Senior Marc Zirolli who swept two crucial points in his final match for Endicott. Other strong performances came from freshman Alex Lawner who took two points and shot 81 his lowest score of the year. Justin McLear had a match for ages; Justin was 4 down with 4 holes remaining and won the last four holes to win a 1/2 point. The rest of the team consisted of Brian Gill, Matt Davis and Matt Barnes who also had strong showings.

At the start of the four-ball, EC continued to play exceptional by scoring five of six points. As a pair, Barnes and Lawner defeated their opponents by one stroke. Gill and Zirolli accomplished the same, when they beat their Gordon opposition by one stroke. The only point lost in the four-ball match-up came when McLear and Davis tied the Scots in their individual round.

The victory is the third in a row for EC, who will host next year's Ambassador Cup Championship.

Ending on a strong victory, EC will look to build on their success next year.
