Frenette and Anderson Awarded NEFC Weekly Honors

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Senior quarterback Drew Frenette (New Bedford, Mass.) collected his second consecutive NEFC Offensive Player of the Week award and sophomore defensive end Craig Anderson (Franklin, Mass.) was named NEFC Defensive Player of the Week honors following Endicott's 26-16 win over Nichols in week six.

Endicott saw their 2014 record improve to 4-2 (3-0 NEFC) with their fourth straight victory heading into their week seven bye. The Gulls will next face Coast Guard on the road on Saturday, October 25th for a 1:30 pm kickoff.

Frenette threw for 330 yards with four touchdown passes of 70, 40, five, and 30 yards to fuel the Gulls offense against the Bison on Saturday. Frenette wasted no time on Endicott's opening drive as he connected with senior receiver Nate Lewis (Acushnet, Mass.) on the game's first offensive play for 70 yards for the first of his two touchdown catches. After a quick three-and-out for the Endicott defense, Frenette would throw his second touchdown of the game to sophomore Thomas Connors (Amesbury, Mass.) on a 40-yard completion.

Right before the end of the half, Frenette orchestrated a 10-play, 63-yard drive over 6:03 minutes of game clock which ended in a five-yard touchdown pass to Lewis as the Blue and Green owned a 20-0 halftime lead.

After Nichols battled their way back into the game in the second half, Frenette would help deliver a final touchdown drive to put the Bison away as he connected with senior Brett Egizi (Walpole, Mass.) from 30 yards out for his team-leading seventh score.

Anderson had a big game on defense as the Gulls faced a Nichols rushing attack that crept back into contention for their first conference win. The sophomore lineman and 2013 NEFC Defensive Rookie of the Year recorded his second straight game with double digit tackles (10) with 2.5 tackles for a loss including an important strip sack in the third quarter. Anderson now has 30 tackles on the season, 5.5 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.

Nichols gained possession on a botched fumble by the Gulls and started their drive in prime field condition on the Gulls 37-yard line. The Endicott defense came up big, stuffing back-to-back rushes by the Bison and recording a pass breakup on third down to force a 4th-and-10 situation. Anderson barreled through the Nichols line and with a clear shot at the quarterback, sacked the Bison signal caller and forced a fumble that was recovered by senior Nick Almeida (Somerset, Mass.).
