Gulls stay in second place with strong showing

Nov. 17, 2008

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott College equestrian team maintained their second place standing in Region Four with their strong showing in the final competition of the fall season at the Tufts University horse show held on Saturday in Holliston, Massachusetts.

Endicott was led by a collection of good rides. Blue ribbons were won by Meghan Hart (Weston, Vt.) in Open Fences, Alisha Phipps (Cotuit, Mass.) in Novice Flat and Anna McKendry (Allentown, Pa.) in Beginner Walt-Trot-Canter. Katherine Noyes (Morristown, N.J.) came in second in Open Fences while Anne Wilcox (Philadelphia, Pa.) came in second in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter.

For the first time in the program's history, three of the team's Open riders are in the top ten in the Cacchione Cup standings. Meghan Hart is ranked second, while Katherine Noyes is sixth and Lauren Horth (Dalton, Mass.) sits in seventh. Endicott is the only school with more than one rider in the top ten.

The Cacchione Cup standings points are determined by adding Flat and Fences points earned. Of the 27 Open riders in the division, only the top ten will compete in Regionals.

Endicott will now take the winter off and resume competition in the spring. The Gulls have amassed their greatest equestrian season in the program's history through the fall half of the schedule. Endicott has had strong contributions from all its riders. The Gulls look to continue their strong season when they return to action in March.
