Dance Team Makes Program History in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla.-  The women's dance team made program history at the 2013 UCA & UDA Dance Team National Championships in Orlando, Fla. by taking sixth in the nation in the Open Pom division.  Endicott followed that up by taking 15th in the Open Jazz division.  With the sixth place finish, Endicott's Pom performance will be aired on ESPN in February at a date and time that is yet to be determined.

"This team works so well together and they all respect one another," said head coach Nicole Sao Pedro-Welch.  "I feel as though we were more prepared heading into the competition."  With a rigorous practice schedule that consists of practice/performances every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings for 2-3 hours, it is easy to see how they achieved this level of preparation.

When asked how the team reacted to hearing their name called for sixth place, Coach Pedro-Welch said, "The girls were ecstatic!  Our goal was to make it to the finals so we could compete on day two in a different arena which was to be filmed by ESPN that day as well.  When our name was called on day one, we were excited because we knew we would be top ten and making history!"

With this being only the third time Endicott has attended the UDA National Championships, the future is extremely bright for the program and the team and coaching staff has high expectations for the team next year.  "Our goal is to be top five in Open Pom and top 10 in Open Jazz divisions at the College Nationals," stated Pedro-Welch.
