Balanced scoring pushes Endicott past Maine
Hamilton, Mass. – Nine players tallied points for Endicott (No. 8 ACHA Northeast) in a 5-1 win over visiting Maine on Saturday, Dec. 4. Matthew Zimmerman (South Glastonbury, Conn.) led the way with a pair of third period goals to help the Gulls move to 9-7-2.

Endicott has found a groove of late, winning three straight after dropping three consecutive decisions in early November. The Gulls have outscored the opposition 17-4 during the streak.

Ryan Pratt (Waltham, Mass.) put the hosts on the board just two minutes into the first period. Pratt’s only goal of the game was assisted by Travis Dion (Saco, Maine) and Tad Gold (Vineyard Haven, Mass.).

Maine’s Matt Boehmer capitalized on a power play opportunity with a goal at 12:56 of the first period. Endicott’s Dion found Greg Szkop (New Britain, Conn.) 21 seconds later for the eventual game winner.

Both teams were held in check in the second period before Endicott extended the lead with three unanswered goals in the third frame.

Zimmerman’s goals were separated by Robert DiNicola’s (Wolcott, Conn.) unassisted effort at 5:33. Freshman goalkeeper Blaine Thibodeau (Peabody, Mass.) allowed one goal in 60 minutes between the pipes.

Jared Garceau (Guilford, Conn.) and Clark Dumart (Shrewsbury, Mass.) each tallied an assist in the win. Endicott will travel to Central Connecticut State on Saturday.
