Norley Named AVCA All-New England Honorable Mention

BEVERLY, Mass.-  The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced their All-Region honorees for the 2012 season and Endicott's Ashley Norley (Sudbury, Mass.) has been named as an AVCA DIII All-New England Honorable Mention Libero.

Norley, a senior, had her best season as a Gull in 2012 as she was named CCC Libero of the Year and All-CCC First Team.  The AVCA DIII All-New England Honorable Mention comes after the libero averaged an astounding 5.54 digs per set on the season.  Norley also averaged 0.35 aces per set as she recorded 41 in 2012 while she passed at a .919 clip in having only 55 reception errors out of 683 attempts.

The 2012 season was historic for Norley as she set the all-time single season dig record with 648.  She beat the previous record by 15.  The senior also moved into second place all time in the Endicott record books for career digs.  Norley finished her collegiate playing career with 2,287 digs, just 29 behind the all-time record.

Norley's finest individual performance came in her last match wearing the blue in green in the CCC semifinal loss to Salve Regina.  In the four set loss, Norley set individual records for digs in a four set match and digs in a match overall.  Norley exploded for 41 digs in the loss, which beat the previous four set record of 33 which Norley had set against Roger Williams in 2011 and had tied against Bowdoin earlier in the 2012 season.  The previous dig total for a match was 37 which Brittany Nolan set in 2005.  Norley now sits near the top in every significant dig statistic.
