Guerre Named as Co-Rookie of the Week in the CCC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-  Mackenzie Guerre (Carlsbad, Calif.) has been named as Co-Rookie of the Week for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).  This marks the third time this season that Guerre has been named as the Rookie of the Week on the season.  The freshman has also been named Player of the Week once this season.

Guerre played a large roll in Endicott's two CCC wins this past week.  In the match against Curry on Wednesday, Guerre was error-less as she collected nine kills on 13 attempts for a .692 hitting percentage.  The middle also picked up six aces, three digs and one assist block in the 3-0 Endicott sweep.

Wednesday's match set the stage for Endicott trip to Springfield, Mass. as the team took on favored Western New England.  WNE was ranked #1 in the CCC as the Gulls looked to pull off the upset.  Guerre picked up her play as the freshman tallied 10 kills on 32 attempts while also picking up five digs and one assist block as she helped guide the Gulls to a 3-2 upset of the Golden Bears.  The win created a three-way tie for second which Endicott won by virtue of the tie breaker (head to head) over Salve Regina and Western New England.

Mackenzie leads Endicott on the season with a .277 hitting percentage from the middle and is averaging the second most kills per set on the team with 2.38.  Guerre also leads the Gulls with 68 total blocks on the season.

Endicott is now off until Thursday when they will host the winner of the #3/#6 matchup of Salve Regina and Wentworth.  Endicott defeated Salve 3-2 on homecoming weekend earlier in the season and defeated Wentworth 3-0 two weeks ago in Boston.
