MEDFORD, Mass.- On day two of the Beacon Invitational, Endicott dropped its final match of the day as they fell to #4 Christopher Newport, 3-0.  Mackenzie Guerre (Carlsbad, Calif.) was stellar once again as the freshman middle tallied 10 kills with only one error on 20 attempts for an outstanding .450 hitting percentage.

Alleigh VandeMerkt (Riverside, Ill.) continued to rack up the assists as the freshman setter gained 21 more and added five digs.  Ashley Norley (Sudbury, Mass.) picked up a match-high 13 digs and had only one reception error in 26 attempts as the senior stayed active on the defensive end.  Callie Dolan (Westford, Mass.) was second on the team offensively as she recorded eight kills on 21 attempts to hit .231 in the match.  Senior Falyn Torelli (Pelham, N.Y.) chipped in with two aces and four digs in the losing effort.

Christopher Newport hit an impressive .340 for the match as their top three offensive players combined for 29 kills and only one error on 54 attempts.  Bailey Jensen (Ashburn, Va.), a senior captain, led the Captains with 15 kills on 24 attempts without an error.  The middle hit .625 on the match.  Jessie Kolden (Alexandria, Va.) and Cory Harris (Williamsburg, Va.) each recorded seven kills on 15 attempts from the outside.  Freshman setter Rachel Conway (Fairfax, Va.) notched a match-high 31 assists as Harris and Abby Hogge (Clifton, Va.) played solid defense and grabbed 13 and 12 digs respectively.

The first set saw the Gulls struggle to get much going as they fell 9-25 to one of the top teams in the country.  The Captains out hit the Gulls .423 to -.037 in that opening set.  Endicott refused to go down easy however as the Gulls forced Christopher Newport into extra points in the second before falling 25-27.  The final set saw Endicott again put up a good fight before falling 15-25 for the 0-3 sweep.

Endicott now heads on the road for two tough matches.  Endicott travels to Wentworth on Tuesday for a conference match up at 7 p.m. before traveling to the campus of Colby Sawyer on Thursday for a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m.
