Women's Volleyball Splits Matches at Keene

KEENE, N.H.- The Endicott Women's Volleyball team traveled to Keene State for a season opening tri-match and came out with a split.  The Gulls defeated the host Owls 3-1 (25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 25-18) and lost to Wellesley by a score of 3-1 (25-19, 24-26, 19-25, 23-25).  Callie Dolan led the way offensively with a combined 28 kills in the two matches.

In the first match against Keene State, Callie Dolan got off to a great start with 16 kills and only three errors on 36 attempts (.361).  Freshman Mackenzie Guerre made an immediate impact in the first match of her career with nine kills and three solo blocks.  The defensive unit was led by senior captain Ashley Norley who finished with 17 digs.  Another freshman who had a solid debut was setter Alleigh VandeMerkt.  She finished with 27 assists and 10 digs.

In the nightcap, Endicott came up short in an extremely close battle that saw Wellesley win besides just having a four point differential for the entire match.  The Gulls were again led by Dolan and Guerre offensively.  The duo combined for 24 kills finishing with 12 each.  Norley again provided consistent defense by registering 17 digs.  VandeMerkt improved upon her earlier performance by netting 37 assists and an additional 14 digs.  Guerre led Endicott at the net with seven total blocks (6 assist, 1 solo).

Endicott is now off for the next five days until they host the Endicott Invitational.  The first match is on Friday at 5p.m. against Susquehanna.
