Wiese named First Team, three other Gulls honored
BEVERLY, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference has announced its annual TCCC Women’s Volleyball All-Conference Team(s), and Endicott College has four players who received recognition. Senior outside \#Steph Wiese\# (Higganum, Conn.) was named a First Team selection, while \#Brittany Phillips\# (Sudbury, Mass.) and \#Elyse Barbour\# (Greenville, R.I.) were honored as Second Team Honorees. Junior \#Ally Murphy\# (Gilford, N.H.) was also awarded Honorable Mention status at the setter position.

Eight different institutions from The Commonwealth Coast Conference were represented on the 2009 All-TCCC Volleyball Team. Colby-Sawyer College junior Michelle Doody was named TCCC Player of the Year, Roger Williams University freshman Emily Lebowitz was named TCCC Rookie of the Year, Western New England College junior Marci Egbert was named TCCC Libero of the Year, University of New England senior Claire Varner was named TCCC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year, Western New England College coach Kaitlin Kozak was named TCCC Coach of the Year, and Salve Regina University was the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award. Voting for the All-TCCC team and each of the major awards was conducted among TCCC volleyball coaches.

\#Steph Wiese\#, Endicott’s lone First Teamer, notched 345 kills and 301 digs during the 2009 regular season. The senior is the program’s all-time kills leader (1,401) and has posted the most points in program history (1,710). Wiese averaged a team-best 3.14 kills per set during the regular season.

Both \#Brittany Phillips\# and \#Elyse Barbour\# were named All-TCCC Second Team selections. Phillips accounted for 276 kills, 332 digs, 48 aces and 45 blocks. Barbour also played a big role in Endicott’s middle, as she had 199 kills and 77 blocks for the Blue and Green. Finally, junior \#Ally Murphy\# was named an Honorable Mention recipient as the setter handed out 563 assists and 237 digs in 120 sets.

The top-seeded Gulls open The Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament on Tuesday night when Endicott hosts Regis College at 7:00 p.m. in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls defeated the Pride, 3-0, in their only meeting of the season back on October 13th.
