Endicott trumps Gordon in North Shore showdown

WENHAM, Mass. – Endicott College battled through four highly-contested sets 25-20, 24-26, 25-21, 25-21, as the Gulls downed cross-town rival Gordon College, 3-1, in TCCC women’s volleyball action on Wednesday night in Wenham, Mass. With the win, Endicott moves to 7-1 in conference play and 16-15 overall. Gordon drops to 3-5 in TCCC action and 7-23 on the season.

Before the match, Gordon honored their four seniors, Meredith Phipps, Kaylie McCallister, Leah Chamberlain, and Janelle Corsaro. Phipps posted a team-high 9 kills on the night to go along with 3 blocks. McCallister had 23 digs to lead Gordon, and Chamberlain had 12 digs. Gordon freshman Alex Nawoichik also chipped in with 8 kills and 4 blocks.

Endicott was led by senior outside hitter \#Steph Wiese\# (Higganum, Conn.) who had 18 kills and 13 digs. \#Brittany Phillips\# (Sudbury, Mass.) added 11 kills and 19 digs, while \#Ally Murphy\# (Gilford, N.H.) dished out 20 assists.

Gordon will conclude their regular season with a tri-match beginning at 11:00 a.m. on October 31st in Wenham. They will face Anna Maria and the University of New England. Endicott also concludes with an October 31st tri-match where they will face Salve Regina and Colby-Sawyer in Newport, Rhode Island beginning at 11:00 a.m.
