CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: Dickens Wins Long Jump On Day Two

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Endicott women's track and field team completed day two of competition at the 2024 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship on Friday evening, hosted by Roger Williams at Portsmouth High School.

Kinneal Dickens (Merrimac, Mass.) headlined the Gulls by winning the long jump for the second straight year.

Dickens secured the title on jumps edging out Victoria Bettencourt (Roger Williams) for the gold medal in the event.

Both student-athletes posted a mark of 16 feet and 6.75 inches on their second attempt; however, over their four remaining attempts, Dickens jumped 16-6 (fifth attempt) in comparison to Bettencourt's best effort at 15-11 (third jump) to lock up the victory.

Student-athletes who place first (gold medalist), second (silver medalist), or third (bronze medalist) in an event earn All-Conference First Team, Second Team, and Third Team honors.

Dickens also qualified for the 100-meter hurdle finals with teammates Olivia Novello (Ipswich, Mass.) and Deanna Dukas (Woburn, Mass.).

Novello led the trio in third place (16.13), while Dickens (7th, 16.55) and Dukas (10th, 17.51) followed suit.

Please note, Hartford is not eligible to earn All-Conference honors for this year's CCC Championship due to dropping down from NCAA Division I competition.

So, Novello enters tomorrow's 100m hurdle finals as the No. 1 seed, while Dickens is fourth, and Dukas is seventh in terms of potential All-CCC placements.

Kaylee Carver (Abington, Mass.) rounded out the list of highlights for the Gulls with an 11th place finish in the long jump (14-10.25).
