Women’s Tennis Bests Gordon, 8-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Gordon, 8-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Wednesday afternoon at the South Campus Tennis Courts. 

The Gulls captured an early lead in the contest by sweeping all three doubles matchups to seize all momentum heading into singles.

At No. 3, the pairing of Yolanda Mendonca (Albany, N.Y.) / Ashley Klauck (Magnolia, Texas) turned in a quick 8-2 victory, while the No. 2 duo of Ana Mar Molina (Sachse, Texas) / Samantha Hartmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) contributed to the victory with an 8-2 triumph.

Rounding out doubles action was the No. 1 pairing of Ripley Uyeda (Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif.) / Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) who cruised to an 8-1 win.

In singles, the Gulls continued strong play as No. 2 Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) and No. 5 Molina provided victories by scores of 6-1, 6-1, and 6-0, 6-1 respectively.

Meanwhile, the depth of Endicott provided insurance victories from No. 6 Mendonca (6-0, 6-3), No. 3 Hartmann (6-0, 6-1), and No. 4 Klauck (6-3, 6-1).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls remain undefeated in doubles action during CCC play (12-0).
  • Mendonca and Klauck earned their first victory as a double pairing this fall (1-0).
  • Berler picked up her team-leading fifth singles win this afternoon (5-2).

Endicott (6-2, 4-0 CCC) hosts Curry on Saturday, October 1 at 12:00 PM for Senior Day. Gordon (0-7, 0-4 CCC) returns home to play Suffolk on Saturday, October 1 at 11:00 AM.
