Women’s Tennis Doubles Up Nichols, 6-3

DUDLEY, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Nichols, 6-3, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts. 

Endicott swept doubles to capture some much-needed momentum heading into singles. 

At No. 1, the pairing of Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) / Ripley Uyeda (Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif.) breezed to an 8-1 rout. 

Meanwhile, both pairings of Olivia Martinelli (Coral Springs, Fla.) / Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) and Shelby Henry (Lincoln, Neb.) / Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) earned victories at No. 2 (8-4) and No. 3 (8-6), respectively.

The Gulls then capitalized on their momentum from doubles with a pair of swift victories at No. 4 and No. 2 singles to clinch the match. 

Martinelli provided Endicott with a 4-0 lead behind a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 4, while Keaveney registered a 6-4 and 6-0 at No.2.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are 3-0 this fall away from The Nest.
  • Uyeda moved to 3-2 at No.1 singles (6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 10-3) and 2-0 in tiebreakers this fall.
  • Keaveney and Martinelli earned their first victory as a doubles pairing this season (1-1).

Endicott (4-2, 3-0 CCC) visits Springfield on Tuesday, September 27 at 3:00 PM. Nichols (1-3, 1-2 CCC) hosts Eastern Nazarene on Sunday, September 28 at 12:00 PM.
