Endicott Earns 8th Straight United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

2016-17 UNITED SOCCER COACHES TEAM ACADEMIC AWARD RECIPIENT LIST

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The Endicott women's soccer team has been awarded the United Soccer Coaches College Women's Team Academic Award for the eighth consecutive year as announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Thursday morning.

The United Soccer Coaches annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 813 soccer teams (282 men, 531 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year. This list included 195 collegiate programs that had both their men's and women's programs among the recipients, of which Endicott was one.

Endicott women's soccer Head Coach Jodi Kenyon had this to say about the team's honor:

"While we train hard and play a very rigorous schedule, it is my belief that the work ethic and discipline carry over onto all areas of our player's lives. If they work hard on the field, they will work hard in the classroom, get the best internships and later in their career be highly marketable. We ask our players to commit to being the best they can all the time, not just in season. They have exemplified this level of dedication in earning "

Endicott's women's soccer team has earned this distinction 10 times (2007, 2008, 2010-2017) since the award was instituted in 1996 and placed 15 student-athletes on the 2016 Academic All-CCC team.

The program's record over the last eight seasons in which they have received this award is an impressive 108-48-18 overall and 62-15-3 in conference play as the team has also claimed two CCC titles, two NCAA Second Round appearances, four CCC finals appearances and an ECAC DIII New England Championship.

The Gulls finished the 2016 season with a 13-4-2 record overall that saw the team fall in the CCC semifinals 1-0. Throughout the run of eight consecutive NSCAA Team Academic Awards, the Gulls have placed 72 student-athletes on the CCC Academic All-Conference teams while seeing four individuals receive CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District teams, with one individual reciving Second Team All-American honors.
