ENDICOTT WOMEN'S SOCCER ALL-REGION HISTORY

BEVERLY, Mass. - The New England Women's Soccer Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) announced the 2017 Division III All-New England teams on Thursday and Endicott saw four women earn recognition. Rachel Hanna (Chemlsford, Mass.) and Mary Verneris (Hamden, Conn.) led the way with First Team honors while Sharlotte Pernice (West Springfield, Mass.) and Paige Pratt (Topsfield, Mass.) garnered Second Team nods. The four honors represent the highest single-season total for Endicott since 2011, a year in which the Gulls also saw four student-athletes receive honors.

For Hanna and Verneris, the First Team honors come following a season in which they finished as the top two goal scorers for the Blue and Green. After being named CCC Player of the Year, Rachel Hanna finished the season with 15 goals and eight assists for a total of 38 points, all tops on the team. She started all 19 of Endicott's matches, one of just five student-athletes to do so for the women this year. One of the other four to start all 19 matches was Mary Verneris who posted 14 goals and 29 points, both good for second on the team. The midfielder also chipped in one assist as she enjoyed a breakout campaign in her junior year.

Receiving Second Team honors were Pernice and Pratt. For Pernice, it is the second straight season in which she has been named to the Second Team, while it was the first honor for Pratt. A junior midfielder, Pernice finished third on the team with 16 points after posting seven goals and two assists in her 19 matches, 18 of which were starts. For Pratt, the honor comes after she started all 16 of the matches in which she played in during her senior campaign. The back played a pivotal role in Endicott's defense that posted seven shutouts on the season and garnered the first NEWISA honor of her career.
