Gulls and Jumbos Hold Each Other Scoreless in Non-Conference Action

SOMERVILLE, Mass. -- The Endicott Gulls and Tufts Jumbos fought to a 0-0 draw in non-conference women's soccer play on Tuesday afternoon at Kraft Field. 


Endicott plays to their second draw of the year and now has a 7-4-2, record, while Tufts's ledger moves to 3-5-3.

Gulls sophomore goalie Katie Donnelly (Madison, Conn.) recorded her fourth consecutive shutout, and her fifth in the last six games. Donnelly made ten stops, as Tufts outshot the Gulls 17-11.

In the first half, Tufts had a slim margin in chances, outshooting Endicott 5-4 and forcing two saves out of Donnelly. On the other side of the field, Tufts senior keeper Phoebe Hanley (Mamaroneck, NY) made one stop. Tufts also had two chances on corner kicks in the first half while the Gulls did not attempt one. 

The Gulls had three shots on goal that forced saves by Hanley in the second half and another shot by junior Heather Moody (Dunstable, MA) that sailed over the crossbar in the 89th minute. Tufts had five shots on goal in the second half including a chance from junior Anya Kaufmann (Evergreen, CO) in the 66th minute.

In the first minute of the first overtime period Tufts had a pair of chances go wide of the net from junior Sophie Wojtasinski (Duxbury, MA) and first-year Sydney Griffith (Boca Raton, FL). Donnelly made three saves overall in the first 10 minutes of overtime including one in the final minute on a shot by first-year Allie Weiller (Katonah, NY). 

In the first 30 seconds of the second overtime Endicott senior Micaela Hogan (Salisbury, MA) threw a shot quickly on net that Hanley made the save on. Hanley finished with five saves for the Jumbos.  

Endicott next plays Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Western New England on Saturday at 1:30 pm in Springfield. The Jumbos return to NESCAC action on Saturday with a 12 pm kickoff at Williams
