Endicott Halts Lesley's Streak At Five

Endicott Halts Lesley's Streak At Five

BEVERLY, MASS.-  The Endicott women's soccer team had dropped their last two contests and they were determined to get a different result in this match.  Behind goals from Nicole Fournier (Milford, Mass.) and Lexi Dussi (Boxford, Mass.), the Gulls came out on top against Lesley 2-1 on Tuesday night.

After a scoreless half hour for both programs, the Gulls got on the board first as junior Nicole Fournier coralled a deflected throw in and was able to turn and shoot to beat the Lynx keeper.  It was the second goal of the season for Fournier and it gave the the Gulls some much needed energy and momentum.

Neither team would score the rest of the way as the score remained 1-0 at half in favor of Endicott.

Almost immediately after the half, the Gulls were able to keep their momentum going as junior Lexi Dussi (Boxford, Mass.) was able to grab the pass from Fournier and loft a beautiful shot over the reach of Lesley's keeper to send the score to 2-0.  It was Dussi's second goal of the season and it was Fournier's fourth assist.

The two goal lead was short lived for Endicott as senior Kate Ryder (Glastonbury, Conn.) was able to connect with a rebound and find the back of the net for Lesley.  The rebound originated off of a chip that was sent in by Alexis Giusti (Meridian, Calif.) and saved by Endicott keeper Natalie Wyrsch (Dover, N.H.).  Wyrsch deflected the original shot that found the foot of Ryder for her second of the season.

The last quality scoring chance of the match came from Endicott as freshman Rebecca Gustine (East Hampton, Conn.) rocketed a shot on net that sailed just high and blasted off the cross bar.  The rest of the match remained scoreless and Endicott got their first win in the last three contests.

Endicott keeper Natalie Wyrsch finished with four saves as Lesley's Emileigh Lloyd (Middletown, Penn.) recorded three of her own.

Endicott is now off until Saturday when they travel to the campus of Eastern Nazarene for a 12:30 p.m. showdown.  Lesley is off until Thursday when they travel to Curry for a 7:00 p.m. start.
