NCAA TOURNAMENT: No. 16 MIT Edges Softball, 4-3

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Endicott softball team lost to No. 16 nationally ranked MIT, 4-3, in the NCAA Tournament on Friday afternoon at Briggs Field.

WP (20-4): Caroline Langmeyer (Upper Arlington, Ohio) — 7 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 9 K
LP (16-4): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) — 7 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K

Trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Endicott produced a three-run frame highlighted by a two-run double via Chloe Shapleigh (Lynnfield, Mass.).

MIT escaped further damage in the inning by stranding the game-tying run at second following a stolen base and a throwing error, which led Shapleigh to score from third on the backend of the play.

After a scoreless top of the seventh inning, Langmeyer held off the Gulls' comeback bid by retiring the side in order (strikeout, pop up, strikeout) to clinch the victory.
