Softball Sweeps Salve Regina, 10-1 & 9-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott softball team downed Salve Regina in pair of conference games (10-1, 9-1, both 5 innings) on Saturday afternoon. 

GAME ONE: Endicott 10, Salve Regina 1

WP (6-3): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) — 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
LP (8-2): Caroline Peterson (Halifax, Mass.) — 1.2 IP, 4 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 5 BB, 1 K

Endicott jumped out to an early 7-0 advantage capped off by an Emma DaSilva (Bristol, R.I) two-run home run in the bottom of the second inning. 

Paige Berdos (Plansville, Mass.) added to the 7-0 lead with a two-run double in the fourth before Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) closed out the convincing victory with an RBI single in the same frame. 


GAME TWO: Endicott 9, Salve Regina 1

WP (6-4): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) — 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
LP (8-2): Skylar Wicklund (Riverhead, N.Y.) — 4.1 IP, 11 H, 9 R, 8 ER, 8 BB, 7 K

The Blue and Green kept their foot on the gas in game two, scoring seven early runs in the first two innings fueled by Chloe Shapleigh's (Lynnfield, Mass.) three RBI.

From there, the Gulls added two insurance runs in the fifth to mercy-rule the Seahawks and secure the sweep. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES 

  • Endicott is 39-14 in the all-time series versus Salve Regina.
  • Shapleigh leads the team in RBI (14).
  • The Gulls are 3-1 at The Nest this season.

Endicott (16-6, 5-2 CCC) travels to the University of New England (UNE) on Sunday, April 16 at 12/2 PM. Salve Regina (13-13, 5-3 CCC) visits Nichols on Sunday, April 16 at 12/2 PM.
