BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott softball team defeated Gordon (6-2) and Nichols (9-2) on the opening day of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament.
GAME ONE: Endicott 6, Gordon 2
WP (12-3): Maria Hanchuk (South Windsor, Conn.) — 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
LP (0-0): Mara Little (Port Deposit, Md.) — 4.1 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the third, Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.) belted a bomb to center field scoring Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.), who doubled to left field in the previous at-bat, to take a 3-2 advantage on the scoreboard.
From there, Endicott scored three more times, with runs batted in by Dani Lear (Groveland, Mass.) and Chloe Shapleigh (Lynnfield, Mass.) along the way, to secure the game one victory.
GAME TWO: Endicott 9, Nichols 2
WP (15-3): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) — 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
LP (11-8): Olivia Pedro (North Providence, R.I.) — 3.2 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 0 K
Endicott erased an early 2-0 deficit with a three-run second inning and never looked back to go 2-0 on the tournament's opening day.
Watts and Chrissy Marotto (Southington, Conn.) highlighted the offense with two RBI apiece.

- Endicott is 45-3 all-time versus Gordon (five straight victories).
- The Gulls are 11-2 at The Nest this season.
- Shapleigh leads the team with 38 RBI.
- Comtois notched her ninth homer of the season.
